Background

Cecilia Fattorini did her foundation year at Exeter College of Art and Design and then studied at the Byam Shaw College of Art in London between 1980 and 1983.

During her time there she became interested in holography and spent two years after college working in this then embryonic field. She remains fascinated by many of the concepts and possibilities offered by holography. Cecilia spent most of the 1980’s satisfying the ferocious market for murals that prevailed.

After many years on the move with her family, a more permanent posting closer to home enabled Cecilia to pursue her painting again.

She had her first very successful exhibition in Cork Street in March 2006 and followed this with shows in London, Somerset and Dorset. She exhibits regularly with. Bowlish Contemporary Gallery (www.bowlishgallery.co.uk ) who have taken her paintings to The Affordable Art Fairs in London and Bristol and will be exhibiting her work in their gallery in Somerset. She was part of another succesfull group enhibition at The Gallery in Cork Street between 20th and 26th May 2008.

Cecilia is on the move again with a new posting and will keep this website updated with news of exhibitions on her return.

Cecilia’s work is concerned with the rhythms and processes of nature and the spatial illusions caused by the movement of light . She has always been fascinated by the way light visually mutates the appearance and even significance of form, often making incorporeal and solid matter appear interchangeable. Her use of line and composition aim to dematerialise the particular in a subject , thus rendering preconceptions of that subject open to question. This is evident in both her nudes and her large animal oil paintings which often appear to metamorphose into landscapes. The use of silver leaf, a spatially abstracting, but unforgiving medium, has been a continuing challenge and love affair and a tightrope that promises to continue in much of her future work.

Prices range from £450.00 for a drawing and from £3,000.00 to £10,.000 for a painting and Cecilia is happy to discuss commissions.
